DT Applied provides school teachers with resources to support the teaching of industry-relevant DT skills and dispositions, and information for students about the breadth of career opportunities in the technology sector.
Working with industry partners, we have identified four key applied technology skills that are in demand in the workplace, and that are requirements of the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies for students in Years 5 - 10.
Four classroom activities will be released over 2022 and 2023. These will include online and unplugged components covering the following topics:
The first DT Applied Challenge introduces Design Thinking, a set of techniques and processes for solving problems. It introduces key design thinking concepts, including ideation, failing fast, prototyping, user testing and evaluation, and iteration, as well as the skills and dispositions students need to be great design thinkers, such as empathy, open-mindedness, and resilience to failure.
Thanks to our partners all DT Applied resources are free for Australian students in years 5-12.
